Therapeutic Data Repository
The tranSMART Foundation’s tranSMART Foundation
Platform v1.2 has been recognized as a leading repository and
research tool for the precision medicine and personalized medical communities. Supported by more than 20 member companies, the platform is used by more than 100 organizations
around the world. The platform is used by scientists to aggregate sets of scientific data, query and review the information
for their research and, ultimately, gain insight and formulate
hypothesis that can lead to new treatments, therapeutics and
insight into human diseases. The product is a data model and
sits atop either Oracle or PostgreSQL. A Web-based graphical
interface is provided, and many operations are simple drag and
drop tools that guide users through the necessary steps to complete analyses.

Ready for Blast-Off
One of the leading technologies for propelling missions to
the outer solar system is the nuclear thermal rocket (NTR).
By achieving specific impulses that are double that of chemical propulsion systems—along with providing medium-level
thrust capability—NTRs enable missions to the outer solar
system with significantly less propellant and/or significantly
shorter trip times. With increased pressure on insuring astronaut safety, decreased trip times are of ever-increasing importance. This pressure, when paralleled with increased interest
in a human Mars mission, has reignited research pertaining to
NTRs, and accordingly, the development of Universities Space
Research Association’s Space Propulsion Optimization Code
(SPOC). The SPOC is a NTR analysis tool that significantly
accelerates and expands the NTR design and analysis process.
SPOC combines the capabilities of well-benchmarked nuclear
code tools, such as MCNP and SERPENT, with established
thermal hydraulic and high-performance computing resources.

Personal Health Care Device
Valtronic’s Compendium is a secure implant and physiological connectivity platform. It securely transfers data from patient
to the Cloud, and then to a patient’s caregiver via a dashboard
program. The technology is HIPPA compliant and 100% secure
with its own intellectual property (IP). The Compendium acts
as a personal health care device (wearable technology) and
tracks physiological data from the patient. The data is transmitted to a biometrically controlled near-field reader and information is secured to ensure data is specific to the proper individual and protected. Data is also transmitted to a smartphone
or tablet where a patient can access it with the Valtronic App,
which is also biometrically controlled. Valtronic converts the
near-field reader data into a Bluetooth signal and transfers it to
the Cloud. Data is transferred to a patient’s doctor or caregiver,
giving him or her access to physiological data and enabling him
or her to monitor and send alerts to the patient at any time.
